Jana Markovic
mezzo-soprano
The Serbian-born mezzo-soprano Jana Marković has been a member of the Upper Austrian Opera Studio at the Landestheater Linz since August 2020.
The mezzo-soprano was trained at the Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy University of Music and Theater in Leipzig, where she completed her master's degree in opera in July 2020 as a student of Prof. Carola Guber. Her work with Nena Brzakovic at the “Institute for Singing/Breathing Training” in Berlin also had a major influence on her singing development
In 2019, Jana Markovic made her debut at the Leipzig Opera as the Sandman in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel. In the same year she made her debut as Prince Orlofsky in J. Strauss' operetta Die Fledermaus at Belvedere Palace in Weimar and as the third lady in WA Mozart's The Magic Flute at the German Language Festival in Bad Lauchstädt. Also in 2019 she was heard as Jean Vicomte de Morcearf in Le Portrait de Manon by J. Massenet at the Leipzig University of Music.
The collaboration with conductors such as Ulf Schirmer, Matthias Foremny, Christoph Gedschold, Andrea Sanguineti and others was of great importance for Markovic.
In 2020, Jana Marković was awarded the Grand Prix at the International Opera Course in Beeskow 2020.
