Andrei Diakov
received his musical training (with a focus on singing and choir conducting) at the Mikhail Glinka Choir School, later he successfully completed the conducting faculty and in 2001 studied as a concert pianist, chamber musician and accompanist at the St. Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory.
In 2000 he began studying piano at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen with Prof. Boris Bloch. He then began studying conducting at the Cologne University of Music.
In 2008 Andrei Diakov won first prize at the renowned Belvedere competition in Vienna in the accompaniment category.
In 2010, via theater stations in Trier and Osnabrück, he came to the Berlin State Opera as a repetiteur and musical assistant, where he assisted, among others, in “Die Fledermaus” under Zubin Mehta, in “Wozzeck” under Daniel Barenboim and in “From a House of the Dead” under Sir Simon Rattle .
In 2012 he made his debut as a conductor at the Berlin State Opera.
In 2018, he composed the opera "A Bad Man's Life" together with Marc-Aurel Floros on behalf of the Kammeroper Schloss Rheinsberg, where he also took over the musical direction.
