Samantha Britt

Born in Virginia, USA, soprano Samantha Britt studied at Carnegie Mellon University and the Manhattan School of Music.
In 2008, Samantha won the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions in Boston, Massachusetts. In 2009, Samantha won the Career Bridges scholarship for three years.
From 2009 to 2016, Samantha lived in New York and played roles as a lyric soprano and lyric coloratura soprano in operas, operettas and premieres. For example: Lucy in “The Billy Goats Gruff”, a children's opera at the Saratoga Opera (2009), Hodel in “Fiddler on the Roof” and Josephine in “HMS Pinafore” at the Ohio Light Opera (2010), Susanna in “Le nozze di Figaro” at the San Antonio Opera (2011), Adina in “L'elisir d'amore” (2011) and Mabel in “Pirates of Penzance” at the Boheme Opera New Jersey (2011). Samantha Britt sang the lead roles in the following premieres: Mag in “Ballymore” at the Chelsea Opera (2013), Beatrice in “Rappaccini's Daughter” at the Theater for the New City (2014), and Leslie in “Companionship” at the Virginia Arts Festival (2015 ).
Samantha has been living in Germany since spring 2017. She sang Lucy in “The Telephone” by Gian Carlo Menotti at the Opera Incognita in Munich and later the title role in “Kiss Me Kate” with the same company. She was a prize winner at the Schloss Rheinsberg Chamber Opera International Singing Competition in 2017 and was rewarded with the opportunity to play the Frasquita role in Carmen and sang in the gala concert with the Brandenburg State Orchestra Frankfurt.
In the premiere of the new opera "HERAKLEITOS" by Cyrus Meurant in June 2018 with the Kreuzberger Kamerata in Hamburg's Laeiszhalle, Samantha sang the soprano role in the chamber ensemble.
In the summer of 2018, Samantha sang the role of Queen of the Night in “The Magic Flute Mal Different” in the Dresden Zwinger.
In autumn 2019 she sang the role of the Danish woman/street singer in the revival of Britten's opera "Death in Venice".
In March 2019, Samantha made her debut at the Berlin State Opera in the opera "Babylon" by Jörg Widmann and returned there in 2021 to sing in the soloist sextet of "Sleepless" by Peter Eötvös.
In 2023, Samantha will take on the main role of Alida in this opera.
